Sir Craig Mackey QPM

Independent Member, CNPA Board
Sir Craig Mackey joined the CNPA Board in June 2019. His police career culminated in a six-year tenure as Deputy Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Service, from which he retired in 2018. Prior to that, his police career began in 1984 with Wiltshire Constabulary, moving next to Gloucestershire Constabulary as Assistant and subsequently Deputy Chief Constable and then to Cumbria. As Chief Constable of Cumbria Police, he worked closely with the Civil Nuclear Constabulary and Sellafield Ltd. Sir Craig has a BSc. Hons degree in Economic and Social policy and a Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Criminology. He brings a wealth of experience to the CNPA Board from a number of very different policing environments. He has extensive experience of major change and transformation programmes, as well as a strong background in providing strategic leadership and improving operational performance. Sir Craig Mackey was awarded the Queen’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service in the 2009 New Year Honours and appointed a Knight Bachelor in the 2018 New Year Honours for services to policing.
