Director General, Strategy and Communications
Brendan Threlfall is Director General for Strategy and Communications at the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government. He is responsible for leading the Department’s work on its overall strategy and priorities. Brendan was previously Director General for the Union in the Cabinet Office and Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities. Prior to that he was Director for Policy in the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities. Earlier in his career, Brendan held positions across the Cabinet Office working on EU exit negotiations, served as Private Secretary to the Prime Minister in No.10, and worked in a number of roles in the Northern Ireland Office. Previous roles in government Director General, Union and Windsor Framework (Cabinet Office and Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities) 2023 to 2024 Director, Policy and Private Offices, Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, 2021-2022 Director, EU exit negotiations – from 2018-2021 Brendan held a number of roles in the Department of Exiting the EU and Cabinet Office working on exit negotiations.
