Lord Lemos joined HMPPS as Lead Non-Executive Board Member on 1 May 2018. He chairs the Agency Board. He is Chair of English Heritage, National Savings & Investments, London Institute of Banking and Finance and Hofesh Shechter Dance Company. He is the author of many publications about social policy and supporting vulnerable people, including The Good Prison: Conscience, crime and punishment published in 2014. His former roles include Vice-President of the British Board of Film Classification, Chair of Payments UK, the Lending Standards Board, Banking Code Standards Board, Notting Hill Housing, and the Money Advice Service; Deputy Chair and Acting Chair of the British Council; a trustee of London University and Dartington Hall Trust, an Audit Commissioner, a Civil Service Commissioner and a non-executive director of the Crown Prosecution Service.
