Michael moved into the nuclear industry when joining the NDA in April 2021 as Interim Finance Director – Waste Division. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1999/2000 after three and a half years at PricewaterhouseCoopers (Pwc) and then moved into Internal Audit / Risk roles at Rolls-Royce (Engineering) and Boots (High Street Retail). In over six years at E.ON he was selected for the Emerging Leaders Programme run with the London Business School and was promoted to Senior Manager, proposing, setting up and then leading a successful £120 million per annum cost reduction programme which improved customer service and reduced costs. Later he was UK Finance Director for First Utility turning around the financial control / understanding and performance of the business before its sale.
