Reverend Professor Gina Radford was appointed Deputy Chief Medical Officer ( DCMO ) for England on 5 January 2015. Gina has had a long-standing interest in health and work, and as DCMO worked closely with DWP and wider stakeholders on these issues. Gina has had a long career in public health at local, national, and international levels. She first joined the Department of Health in 1998 as Head of the Public Health Development Unit, where she oversaw the work to establish NICE, before moving to become Regional Director of Public Health for the East of England, and later PHE’s Centre Director for Anglia. In June 2019, following retirement from DHSC, Gina started as a part-time Vicar in rural Devon looking after several villages on the edge of Dartmoor. Gina is also a Non-Executive Director with HSE (Health & Safety Executive), an arm’s length body of the Department for Work and Pensions ( DWP ).
