Sir John Kingman has been Chair of Legal and General plc since 2016. He is also Chair of Barclays UK and a member of the Barclays plc Board. He was previously Chair of Tesco Bank and is currently Deputy Chair of the National Gallery. John previously served as the Second Permanent Secretary to HM Treasury and was the first Chair of UK Research and Innovation, between 2016 and 2021, overseeing £8 billion of government science and innovation funding. In 2016 he was awarded a Knighthood for his public services, particularly to the economy.
